Hi everyone!!! I have an African goose hen that is laying eggs but not sitting on them.
This is not new to her since she has hatch her eggs before and had gooselings with previous owner.
Daisy, and lover goose Gladstone fell in love at first sight! And have been doing “their thing” in
Their pool. We made them a beautiful home screened, separate from the chickens, and it’s own nest. She lays her eggs there and we let them out during the day and herd them back in at sunset.
This is the third clutch she is not sitting on them. I am about to start incubating them myself!!! But, never tried it before. Is it hard? Is it possible? I am loosing babies and money every time I throwaway eggs she abandones.
Thank you for your help.
PD: What am I doing wrong? If I try to feed them in the common run with the chickens they are faster and gobble up the geese food,
Only by them having their own place do I make sure they are getting their food.
if I let them be in the same coop and attached run with the chickens, Daisy lays eggs there but Gladstone then harass the layers and roosters and egg production goes down. Also, the layers choose the same place where the geese eggs are to lay theirs and sit on them.
