Hi I currently own a male pekin duck and was thinking about introducing some call ducks. I was wondering if it was safe to keep the call ducks with him and not have problems.

He will probably try to breed them so I would be very cautious if you do. I don’t know what I personally would do but I know I would provide lots of Space and areas for the call ducks to get away from him. I believe call ducks can sort of fly so even just ledges that the pekin can’t get up on would probably go a long way

Another thing to think about with the large Pekin Drake is that they don't look down whenever they're walking around. Calls look so tiny and I imagine he could injure a call accidentally. I am a short person and I have to take more steps to move the same amount of area than a taller person. With that in mind, a call would have to move fast to stay out of the Pekins way. Between that and the possibility of mating, I'd be too afraid. Best wishes with your Drake and any future ducks.

My drake is actually a lot smaller than pekins usually are and was raised by chickens so I didn’t think he would bother them.

If you don't feel like there will be any problems, all you can do is try it. With these replies, you can be prepared well in advance for some of the possible issues just in case any arise. It will either go well or you may end up with injured calls. You're going to be the best judge of your Drake, especially if the replies here don't apply to him. I have one Pekin Drake that is barely 7lbs and another that's well over 11lbs. I wouldn't put either of mine with such small ducks, but my guys are crazy right now (almost spring) and trying to mate each other and the ducks. Mating is pretty much the top priority right now, even behind eating. I do wish you the very best and I hope whatever you choose, works out really well.
