Hello, I am a fist time duck parent, and I need some help. My daughter has 3 ducks, 2 female pekins and 1 male Rouen. We got them at the same time, and they are now 6 months old. They all get along very well up until now. Our females lay eggs and the male breeds with them daily and we haven't had any issues. The problem started yesterday when one of the pekins cut her foot and after we cleaned her up and treated the foot with antibiotics and a foot wrap our male is now attacking her. I have never seen this behavior from him before; he is normally very gentle. I did separate him from the girls last night but when I put him in with them this morning, he is now fighting with both of the females. We have a good size pen where we keep the ducks. One side has their coop and an open area that is 12 ft by 12 ft in size. This is attached to a separate pond area that is also 12 ft by 12 ft. I feel like they have enough space. They do get let out to free range for a little while each day. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should do? I would hate to have to rehome my male duck. He was such a good boy prior to this.

This time of year, Ducks are all getting into a lot of squabbles, but they get over it. When you take one duck away from the others for a while and they can’t see each other, they will usually fight a little when you put them back together.
If you think they’re injuring each other, take the Drake and keep him separate for a while, but he has to be in an area where they can all see each other. Like an adjacent pen. And then at night if you have something like a dog, crate to put inside the coop and you put him in the crate. That’s just what I would do. Give him a day of “time out” for bass behavior, and try them together again. If they fight again, then give him two days in timeout. And so on.
Edit to add- is her foot bandaged and what color is the bandage hopefully not red ? He might just be.” seeing red” lol (sorry bad joke)
