Can I leave newborns in the brooder alone over the weekend?

Take them home. That way you can ensure that their needs are met. They need the right heat, they need to be monitored. Chicks pop out of the shell hard wired to think up new and novel ways to commit suicide. Even something as simple as kicking shavings into their waterer can be a death sentence if not monitored and corrected. A wet chick is a cold chick, and a cold chick is a dead chick.

Take them home!!!
A weekend of pasty butt will have you coming back to two dead chicks.
Little ones really do need quite a bit of monitoring. Those silly sweeties can actually manage to drown in their water dish.
You need to be a Mother Hen. :D
