Can i let my chickens out of their coop for the first time without clipping their wings.

aart thanks for your information, yes they do have a run and go in and out to roost with no problems, we let them out into the garden earlier and they have been fantastic they have been going into have a drink/food then coming back out plus daisy went in and laid an egg and come back again

very pleased with my girls and thank you all for your great advice...

Here they are in the garden...

Great! Nice run!

Is that chopped rubber mulch under the swingset?
Might want to fence them out of that area, poop would be hard to clean up.

yes we did say that when we noticed they had gone on it so going to get fencing tomorrow and thank you my husband made the chicken coop/run

My mother-in-law and I have chicks that are 2 months old and we have allowed them to free-range for a month as long as we were outside with them to keep predators away. They love to stretch their legs, and we enjoy watching "chicken TV." Hope you get as much joy from them as we do! Keep up the good work, your birds look happy and healthy!

thank you KatharinetheGr8 they really enjoyed it, i said to my husband they seem to have a spring in there step! yes we watch them too its so relaxing you can watch them for hours. Arh that's so cute i would really love to have chicks later on

I think they're definitely been in the coop long enough. I only kept mine in for 3 days and they knew where to go at night.

I'm pretty sure that if you're going to free range them: you should clip their wings if you don't want them flying over a fence. I'm not an expert, but based on what I've read/experienced, a chicken with unclipped wings can clear a six foot fence.

Thank you ChickenGrass and Chewbagawk so far so good they have been amazing
