My chicks are almost 5 weeks old ,we believe, they are almost fully feathered only some fuzz on their lil noggins .. do y'all think I can open the door to the run area and let them in there during the day? I think they are getting bored cuz they charge at the door when i feed them lol I have had them in the coop with a heat lamp for a think about 2 weeks now.. The other concern is will they go back in to the coop for bed? I lure my ducks to bed with peas but I haven't found a treat for the chicks yet that they cant resist to lure them if needed. It is 57 degrees out right now if that helps at all :)

Yes, they can be let out. They also should have been weaned off of the heat by now. Mine have been running their coop since around 3 weeks. They're 5 weeks now and spend yesterday in 40° weather and last night was 30.
You may need to bring them to the coop for a few nights. Eventually theyll get it. Mine now go in and I just have to close the door.

So an update... I have had the door to the run open now and no heat light for 3 days. They squawk a lot when I put them to bed but I dont have a problem getting them back in their coop... they barely come out lol. They are still not real sure about the big outdoors lol. No heat lamp and no sleep for me the first night but all is good. Thank you all for the help :)

Mine were big babies when I turned off the heat lamp because they weren't used to dark. After a night or 2 they were fine. Chickens.
