But for the future or any others considering this, aside from all the considerations mentioned, shipping adults and chicks require boxes approved by the USPS. Those boxes aren't cheap. Shipping adult birds is even more expensive than chicks due to weight per animal. That cost has to be built into the sale price or at least added as a supplemental charge.

Most definitely. The shipping boxes run $15-25. If you get singles there's also the cost of shipping them to you.

Then there's the cost of shipping the birds. Unlike hatcheries that can send chicks Priority mail, private sellers must send them Express. The cost depends on the weight of the box and the distance they need to travel. It can be as little as $40 for some chicks up into the hundreds of dollars for juveniles/adults.

Its all about how badly someone wants a breed.
Sometimes I think it is cheaper to drive across the country to a breeder for a specific rare breed/variety/strain/
