Hi Everyone!

We are putting in an order this week for our chicks! Last year we had Guinea Hens (Never again! haha) So, after selling those to a friend last year, we are excited to introduce Chickens to our family :)

We live in Northern New York, so cold winters, warm summers.

So far I have narrowed down my wish list. I would like the following breeds:

Plymoth Rocks
Rhode Island Reds
Buff Orpington (really, really want!!)
Brahams

We plan to keep these birds for egg laying and as pets.

Would it be okay to mix these breeds and have them grown together in a flock?

Much thanks in advance!!!

There are many people who raise mixed flock chickens. Mixed chickens generally do well together. To me it makes it more interesting to have different breeds. They are easier to tell apart and easier to tell which chicken laid which egg. The breeds you have selected should do well in the climate you live in.
