can i mix quail with my chicken flock

If the chickens are entirely enclosed in a coop and run it could be possible. You'd have to watch out for the quail getting picked on since they are smaller but otherwise technically they could get along. The problem is quail will not come home to roost. If they can escape they will and they can fit through some small holes. You will never see them again. They need an entirely enclosed pen with small enough mesh not to escape and all gaps closed off. If you can do that you still aren't likely to find any of their eggs because they don't lay in nest boxes very often. They drop them where ever they happen to be. Then you will probably never get to handle the quail and catching them for any reason will be difficult. If you just want to have quail with minimal care then you could try putting them in a run with chickens but you'll get nothing out of them. They might as well not be there for all the use they'll be. That's why most keep them in fairly small pens like rabbit hutches.
