Her eggs are due tomorrow, but I was just out there and hear no cheeping and there is no pipping. As the day gets closer I'm more nervous about those babies being in the coop with the "big kids." I know mama can protect, but she is a little Silkie and 8 of my 11 chickens are LF. I'd like to move her and her eggs into the brooder, but I'm afraid. Or should I wait until they hatch?

I've asked for advice about this broody before, but I just can't decide what to do about her. My first broody. I feel like a nervous father from the 50's pacing outside the delivery room with a cigar.

If shes in the nesting box brooding, Block it off so no hens can get in there once the eggs hatch and the chicks fluff out id move them, you dont want to take a chance of breaking her.

Good luck,

Elizabeth~

She's in a corner of the coop.

Maybe I can rig something up to give her a bit of a barricade or something.
