Hi
One of my female ducks did lay a clutch of eggs in our hedgerow and was sitting on them for a good two weeks before the eggs mysteriously disappeared. I think crows took them. She has started laying a new clutch inside a hen house, currently has 9 eggs. My issue is she has laid them in a raised nesting area which is quite small and the eggs or ducklings may fall. If I move them to just below their current position on the floor of the house, will she be annoyed? She hasn't started sitting on them yet.

Generally, it's hard to move ducks nest, but since she is still building up her clutch, and you are only moving her a short distance it may work.

It's worth a shot.

Well that didn't work as the little Call Duck who was unsuccessful on her own eggs tried to claim them and sat on them. 😳
I put them back and now mum has sat on them and only come off to eat, drink and splash briefly this afternoon. So she is up on the nest area. I will have to trust her to keep them safe. I have put lots of straw under in case one falls. She seems happy though, and was a good sitter prior to her previous eggs being stolen.
