Can I mow the grass then let the chickens and ducks out to free range on it?

Oddly enough, our birds have gotten clippings in their run for years, not regularly, but enough that it could be an issue. Thus, my caution above :)
Yeah I had a bird with impacted crop after adding mowed grass to the run at one point, so after that I made sure the grass was pretty decently dry before adding it in. The chickens are sad because it isn't tasty, but that also means they won't gorge on it.

It's not a big backyard... but yes, I think you're right lol. Just starting our flock. The first ones we hatched should be laying soon (only 2). There's 11 in the next age group out there. 3 chicks in the brooder in our bedroom lol. 4 to hatch in 6 days. So it's growing. We have to hatch more chickens and try not to do the ducks. It's hard to look at a duck egg and not put it aside for the incubator, but we need to wait for new blood, (pure-bred SAYs). Looking forward to hatching more chickens, they're so easy and quick.
