Can I persuade a rooster to not crow?

So it's like 7:30 in the morning and I hear an odd sound coming from outside. At first I check my computer for a sound. Then I look out my window to see our Australorp rooster crowing. We are very kind to our neighbors and them to us. But I love my Australorp rooster and don't want to get rid of him! Is there a way to persuade/stop him from Crowing?

However, if you have any chance of stopping them crowing, you MUST act very quickly - once they have become habituated, you will not be able to stop them.

Usually locking him in a dark coop until "morning" can really help the early morning crowing. If he crows like crazy in the. Oop you could further sound proof the coop...Last resort caponize him (by a vet)
