Can I put day old chicks under a hen that has only been broody for 5 day

I may only have 1 or 2 chicks hatch in my incubator in 5 days. My hen went broody tonight. If I only get one chick can I put it under my hen. If I get 2 or 3 chicks I would prefer to raise them myself as my hen is very protective and I won't be able to touch the chicks. Any advice would be appreciated.

How old is the hen and what breed please I have done this at night with my silkie 3 times do it at night take an egg give a chick sit back give her another chick then take the eggs give her the rest of the peeps

She is about 2 years old and has successfully hatched and raised a batch of chicks in the spring. She is a wyandotte × rir cross. I am concerned that she will have only been broody for 5 days.

but you have one chick right oh so this may not happen for a few days then can you set them in a box or brooder for a day or so
