Can I put my newly hatched chicks under my broody?

My broody hen was sitting on 6 eggs that had just started to pip, when a horrific gust of wind blew through and knocked our dumb prefab coop over onto it's side. It must've been pretty bad because we had secured it and it had survived a couple pretty crazy wind storms previously. My 2 adult birds were ok thank God, but the hatching chicks did not survive :( I righted the coop and my hen went straight back into her nest and is still stubbornly sitting. I feel so bad for her. I have eggs in the incubator, one has hatched so far as of this morning. Could I put this baby and any others that hatch under her?

You could try that, but really watch her closely. Hard to tell if she will accept them. Some hens are really great mothers, some not so much.....

This question is EXACTLY why I logged in today. I candled my eggs last night (day 11) and the 5/10 that have made it this far don't look good.

So, in the likely occurrence of a failed hatch, is it fair to give her day old chicks and expect a good outcome?

Or should I just try with a fresh clutch?
