Can I put the chicks outside with the brooder plate at night?

I put my chicks in my 3' x 6' brooder in the coop straight from the incubator or post office, whether the outside temperature is below freezing or in the 90's F. As long as you have an area warm enough in the coolest temperatures and and cool enough in the warmest temperatures they can handle it. My biggest challenge to brooding outside is the temperature swings. I've seen it go from below freezing to over 70 F (or the other way) in 36 hours. My brooder can handle that.

As long as they have food, water, protection form predators, and protection from the environment you are good to go. Protection from the environment means rain, wind, and too much or too little heat.
