i want to let a broody hen, raise some chicks, like 3, i was going to get a couple 2 day old chicks and put them under her to let her raise them, she is with 16 other hens, what should i do, i would prefer to let her roam with the others and not have to put her in a different area.

You can put her with the other chickens. What I did for my broody hen I let the other chickens see her while she was in a cage. So that the other chickens knew she was there but they couldn't get to her. After a couple of days I let her into the chicken yard alone with her chick. I let her in the chicken yard for a day alone so that she could settle into her surroundings. The next day I let the chickens into the chicken yard with her. I sat there with her in the yard so that if anything happened I was there. The other chickens investigated her if they got to close she scared them off. At one point one hen challenged my broody hen I let the fight happen. As long as the chick was not being beat up you should be fine. A couple fights might happen but as long as theyre not to bad then let them happen. If the chickens try to peck at the chick then you cam get no-peck from tractor supply or atwoods. Apply it to the chick and hopefully it wont get pecked at anymore. After a couple of days the chick and the hen will adapt well with the flock.

ok, i will be getting the chicks on Friday, the mom is in the coop which is attached to the run she has been on the run a lot so she is not a new chicken
