Can I raise a single chick?

Why don't you ask if anyone in your states thread near you has some that are available? Many people have been hatching from thier flock's this spring. I just sold a few of mine about a week ago, and just had another batch hatch a couple of day's ago myself, but I am over here in Arizona.
Try checking with local fb groups. We ended up rehoming our roo and trading for a hen. Lots of peoplie had hens they were happy to part with. (Yes - I’m the same person who is waiting on the expensive started pullet. We placed that order before we realized how easy it might be to get a local bird.)

Can you get a pullet online?

Yes.
If you order day-old chicks, you have to order at least 3 chicks. (Different hatcheries have different minimums: 3, 6, 15, 25.)

If you order started pullets they are much more expensive, but you can typically get just one of them.

McMurray hatchery www.mcmurrayhatchery.com sells some--look under the "juvenile birds" tab. They sell some at 4 weeks old, others at point-of-lay (about 20 weeks old.)

My Pet Chicken www.mypetchicken.com sells some--look for "6-Week-Old Chickens" in the menu.

Cackle Hatchery www.cacklehatchery.com sells adults--look for "Eggs and Adult Fowl" in the menu.

There are probalby other hatcheries that also sell them.

I have never personally ordered chickens of these ages from any company. I have ordered day-old chicks from McMurray and from Cackle, and was satisfied with the live, healthy chicks they sent me.
