Can I restart a hen on new eggs after she has sat on eggs for 10 days?

My broody has cracked 3 eggs I dont know what's going on. I'm down to 5 fertilized eggs day 10 and I want to restart because I wanted to hatch at least 8. All the eggs she has broken were fertilized except mabey 1. I did crack on egg on accident that I sealed with wax, 2 others were wax sealed and didn't break. So if I put her on new eggs for today and tomorrow will she know they are new eggs and stay on them for 21 days?

I'd be reluctant to do that if you are experiencing high temperatures. Setting can be hard on a hen, and in extreme heat it becomes more stressing. Why are the eggs cracking ? Do other hens have access to the nest ?

Yes but two of the three have broken at night.

I have added eggs after my hens eggs were no good because they were not fertile. I gave her some that I had in the incubator for a day. They all turned out fine. Put a fan in your coop or open windows or do whatever you can to make sure that the hen is getting enough air exchange so she can cool down if it's hot in your area. Have some nice cool water near where she is too so that she can grab drinks early in the morning without the others bothering her.

I just made a different place in the barn for her and the barn stays cooler than outside,I will move her tonight so she accepts the new nest. Thanks for the help!

I broke open all the other eggs because I read that they will abandon the nest to take care of chicks. I'm gona start fresh with 14 egg this time if they all fit under her.
Keep her separated in a freshly cleaned an well prepared nesting area so no lice/mites, mice or other chickens will be able to disturb her. Dust the nesting grounds and the broody as well and do not use straw as the hollow stems provide wonderful hideouts for poultry mites.

If she does not leave the nest daily you should take her off once a day to make sure she defecates, stretches her legs and eats and drinks properly.

And I would not recommend to have a broody on wax sealed or otherwise repaired eggs. This is only viable when using a brooder.

Ok I will do that, thanks for the help! If your still wondering about the dog attacks they have all recovered but one, one is still limping but it's getting better. The people are moving somewhere else with their killer dogs luckily(not because of the incident for some other reson). I'm never going to trust Huskies for the rest of my life though!

What a relieve for you and your chickens! Hopefully the new neighbours will show more sense of responsability and civilisation.
