Hi,

Sorry to say, the chick in the photo are both males. Males have the chestnut coloured feathers on their breasts while females are spotted.

That's what I was afraid of. I have 10 chicks and there are only 2 or 3 that I feel pretty certain are females. I'll post pics of those too...just to get a 2nd opinion.

Dont feel bad I hatched 38 quail and 3/4 were male.

Photobucket takes even longer to load than pics on BYC, so I didn't look at them. I was just going to say that if you go into photobucket, you copy the very last link code that is in the drop-down menu below the pic, and paste it into your message. I believe it is the code.
ETA: I did look at the first pic, the one on the left looks like a male also.

I fixed the pics...thanks. So the awake female in bottom 2 pics is really a male? If so, that would make 9 out of 10 male!

I've had that happen before too, I had 12 hatch, and 2 were female.

it would be best to wait until they are older to be exact. when they are mature you can also vent sex them
