I have a pekin/silkie cross cockerel and was wanting to know whether cross birds are allowed to show. Ive wanted to do it for a while but didn't have particularly attractive birds until this one.

They judge based on the ASOP, so I'm sure you could take your bird to show and enter it under one of the breeds you have crossed but it's not likely going to meet ASOP standards.

American Standard of Perfection, there are standards for every breed and they vary for the breed, for instance a silkie has 5 toes that are feathered, weight is taken into consideration, the spacing of the toes, the length of the back, shape of the crest etc etc, there are disqualification characteristics and if your bird has those for the breed chosen it will be disqualified.

It is a VERY pretty bird btw

ahh i see, well im in England but i suppose they will have the same sort of system over here. Hmm i can have a look into it and see what it says. Thanks! We hatched 5 and they all looked pretty similar until a few months ago and the ginger in him just went crazy. Best looking bird ive ever had.
