We ran an errand about two hours before it got dark and when we got home they were all roosting in the coop and it was t even dark yet.![]()
Great news. We've never had chickens until this Spring, and I am still nervous about letting them free-range the back yard. They do go in and out of the coop from their run ok, so I suppose they'd be alright.
I worry a lot tho, had some dreams/nightmare about hawks walking around the coop and checking out how to get in. We did a pretty good job of security, but it hasn't been tested yet. Seems all the raptors know
about our chickens, we've seen red-tailed hawks patrolling, and a great horned owl. As well as the usual opossums, racoons, coyotes.
