Can I skip plywood under metal roof?

I have a covered run that has rough cut 1"x4" purloins at 16" on center. I used roofing membrane under old tin sheets, installed from the bottom and overlapped 4".

It does not move.
Hi Ted,

what kind of membrane did you use? The foil bubble insulation type? I need some advice.. I live in Western NY. My current 8'x8' Amish built shed/coop has a metal roof with the foil bubble style insulation under it. It has held up in regards to preventing the moisture but over the years mice have gotten into it and and I'd like to re-do it. Is there a better barrier or insulation I should use under the metal roofing? I already have good ventilation but with the temperature swings in my location, I need something under the metal roof.

any suggestions? thanks!
