Can I throw the dead plants from the garden into the run for the chickens to play with.

  1. Watermelon plants,squash,cucumber and corn stalks. Most are brown or dying off thanks

    shouldn't be a problem, goats and horses can eat that stuff...the only thing i'm not positive about is the cucumber. Also i think tomato plants are poisonous.
     
  3. Thanks, I won't add those then and the rest I don't expect them to eat it but they can scratch around and catch in crickets and bugs that are in the vines of the sqaush .

    cucumber and any squash family plants/fruit should be fine. I'd stay away from gourds though, as a lot of gourd fruit is non edible for humans. When I turned my chickens into the garden last fall, they were scoffing down the dried squash leaves like they were potato chips.
