My neighbor across the street uses A 2 car garage! His girls all have one bay. The window has a couple wooden boxes stacked both inside and outside so they can hop in/out. He has a chain link fence across the door. The door gets closed in winter storms and left open almost all the time. The run is good sized and just has poultry meeting above. He has a goat for guard duty! He said he hasn’t lost one since he got the goat!

I converted my SHED into a chicken coop. Sure, that would work fine! Just make sure it has good protection from predators.
