I am very new to raising chickens. We have horses that we feed alfalfa to and always have lots of access laying on the ground in our feed room. Can I use this for my chickens to nest in or would it not be good for them? This may be a dumb question...but just want to do what's best:)

I have used hay and grass clippings in our nest boxes and they did fine. Keep in mind they are chickens and in years past they would lay eggs anywhere and in most anything.

They'll probably want to eat it. Keep that in mind. My hay is on the floor and they're constantly scratching it all over to eat it.
