Can I use hamster bedding as litter for newborn chicks?

I'm hatching my first ever batch of chickens, and one of my eggs started hatching today (3 days early) and I don't have any litter for the brooder. I can't get to the store now to get some pine shaving, so I was wondering if I can use some of my hamster's bedding. Its Carefresh Ultra, and it says its made of Cellulose fiber. The bag says you can use it for birds,but I think that it means birds like parrots and doves, and I just want to make sure it's safe for my chicks before I use it. Thanks!!

For the time being you can always use shredded newspaper or paper towels if you are unsure.
