My silkies are very fluffy and I have to AI them. Well my favorite silkie roo is VERY sick.his face and eyes are extremely puffed up and inflamed and he can't see anything. He looks horrible and I doubt he'll make it much longer. Hes been in quarantine for about a week As I said earlier he is my fav roo and is very good quality. Would it be ok to collect semen from him to AI my hens with or is that a big no no? Would it make my hens sick??

Thanks

It won't make your hens sick but it will create chicks that are prone to illness. Can't imagine why you'd want to reproduce such a bird.

I'm not convinced that using his sperm would not make your hens ill. You will be handling him, a sick bird and getting whatever germs on yourself, and probably the collection container. Then handling your hens could very easily pass his germs to them. Even if they are not in the sperm itself.

Have you tried treating him with antibiotics or taking him to a vet?

The chances are good that he isn't fetal and even if he is all you will be doing producing offspring prone to illness as NYREDS said.
