Can I use the EcoGlow and a Heat Lamp?

This is our first time raising baby chicks. The heat lamp ended up being way to hot where the temperature ended up over 100 and the chicks wouldn’t go near the light. So we replaced the bulb with a 60watt one and put an EcoGlow in there. Is that safe? Or are both together a fire hazard? The temperature is just right now. Not all of them like going under the EcoGlow so I’m nervous about not having another heat source.

I've used both. I believe many feel they won't learn the heat plate/cave system if you use both, but it seems to methat they don't really see the red lights so mine went to bed at night under the heat plate.

It'll be interesting to see others experiences.

I’m just nervous because only a few will go under it and the rest huddle together in the corner. We have 10. The heat lamp itself doesn’t give much heat either since it’s just a 60watt bulb.
