Can I use this as a nesting box?

It's from IKEA. It's meant to put a trash can in and have a pull out trash bin under your counter. I'd love to have a pull out nesting box for easy egg collection... It looks like it's the right shape, are the dimensions OK?
It's:
Width: 9 7/8 "
Depth: 16 1/2 "
Height: 9 7/8 "

What do you all think?

yes, I think it would work. I have old drawer for a nest box, and also an old dresser tipped on its side, any kind of box works basically!!

Looks great. Only drawback is if you have big birds. Then it might be a little on the narrow side.

I don't know why not! If they are expensive however, it might be more reasonable to go in another direction. I've seen where lots of people have used milk crates successfully and 5 gal. buckets cut in half. If you are still set with using that, then I think it would work just fine!

I have found that plastic dog crates (small to medium in size) work great also....I find them at yard sales and auctions for 'cheap'!!
