Can i use tree service chips

Question about wood shavings. I have straw in the nests but in between there nest on the floor is so muddy. I was wondering if I could scatter some wood shavings on the floor to make it safe for the duck and myself from slipping. If so do I have to use pine or can I use any type.

Pine shavings are safe. Large shavings seem to be easier on their feet
Avoid cedar shavings. They cause raspatory problems

I remember pine was safe. But didn't realize cedar could be bad for them.. I was thinking if I couldn't get pine what would work for them. I did remember to use big flakes... thank you for your help
