Peafowl are too big to live inside. I agree the smell would be bad. The noise would be bad too. A lot of people would complain.

Peafowl are very strong fliers and if they get spooked they will fly up and hit the top of whatever they are contained in. The reason why most people use netting over their peafowl pens is to prevent the birds from killing themselves from flying up and hitting the top. They could really hurt themselves flying into the ceiling or flying into a window.

Keeping peafowl inside temporarily such as peachicks or keeping a sick or injured bird inside for a while is okay with me, but to have such large birds stuck indoors all their lives is not healthy because of limited ventilation and limited sunlight. I think there is also a certain disease people can get from inclosed spaces that birds are kept in due to not enough ventilation, etc.

There are plenty of exotic small birds that you can look into getting. You can create your own indoor paradise for them. Here is one idea:

Small birds would be much more easy to handle indoors. Some exotic small bird options are: Shamas, Fairy Bluebirds, Bulbul, aracari, Myna, Vietnamese Leap Birds, superb starlings, lesser blue eared starlings, etc.

If you really love peafowl you will understand that they just are not cut out for living in an apartment. Maybe some day you will be able to live somewhere else and have outdoor space for them then. Many people have waited until they lived somewhere with room to keep peafowl.

Peafowl would be a negative. With an apartment they could easily destroy something like a window. It could stress out the bird if the room was too small. Smell would probably get to you can it can make your family sick. Also peafowl calling in an apartment will probably end badly really bad. A smaller bird like a finch maybe if the building allows it but you could not own big birds like peafowl.
