Can I feed baby chicks grinded oatmeal for their first few days? Also, what should I feed them instead of starter feed?

the reason why I asked is because I live in chicago and most pet stores don't carry it....

Try searching on Google for "livestock animal feed store in Chicago". I just did that and came up the a bunch of names of places you can get chick starter. Hopefully one will be fairly close by your house.

Pet stores won't carry it, look on google or check the yellow pages for feed stores.

Why would you hatch chicks and not have a feed already bought for them is my question?..a good starter/grower/waters ready for them and a brooder are the main things to start with when hatching chicks...

Well I guess I will have to order the food from meyer hatchery. And yes I have everything prepared for them, but the starter feed. There are many other things a chick can live of rather then starter feed, just not as nutritional.. but those are the cons of having chicks in the city,

Go to google maps. Then type in "Feed" and your area code. It will come up with feed stores. I live in a city and I am within one hour of about 6 feed stores.
