Can it be done??

I have some broilers that are 3-4 weeks old. Night time temps are mid 50's. I do not want to run a line to the coop for a light. I also have Barred Rock pullets in the coop as well that are 3 weeks older than them. (They are roughly the same size).

1. Is it possible to put the broilers in with the barred rocks chicks with no consequence?

And

2. to leave them out overnight and know they are warm enough?

I would like to get them outside. I have searched, but cannot find specific night time temp requirements. Or compatability with other chicks. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks.

I'm not so sure mixing them would be a good idea unless they've all grown up together. I tried blending my Orpington's with my CornishX and it didn't go so well when in confinement, free range they're fine. As for nighttime temps I would imagine they'd be fine without a heat lamp as long as they are in a draft-free environment... I suppose it depends on how well feathered out they are.

You should be ok leaving them outside if your night temps are in the 50's.
