can marek's affect week old chicks?

I'm trying to do some research for my friend who posted this because she's on the road right now.

While researching, i read that small chicks are protected by their mother's antibodies from marek's for the first several weeks - indicated 5 weeks - and that chickens over 5 months should be resistant to marek's.

Is this true?

Should paralysis in a chick that young just be attributed to vitamin deficiency?

Botulism seems very unlikely. She's fastidious with her cleaning.

Please enlighten me.

Check this out. Earlier I thought I read that it affected chickens between 4-5 months of age... This says otherwise!
