I have a small flock of Miniature Ginger Oxford Game. (A quite rare British breed). We have their first 3 babies due to hatch in 5 days.

I was looking to get a R.I.R hen or 2, simply because I like them and fancy larger eggs every now and then!

My question is-would I be able to breed with the two together? Is it possible for a regular sized fowl to mate with a miniature? It would be my Cockerel who's the small one.

Would love to know, and if it is possible have any of you done it? What were the results?

Any information greatly appreciated!

Where there is a will there is a way, in a word yes. Would be interesting to see what you get.

Oh, the only roos we have are banties. Yes, it can absoloutely be done! And it has! I've hatched two chicks which are mixes. Both have the same mom, different dads. On took the mother's 'standard sized' gene and is very large. The other took her father's 'banty sized' gene and is the size her father was.

The roo may be clumbsy the first few times around but he'll get the hang of it.

Oh thanks guys!

Those chicks sound sooooo cute!

Will definataley be trying this soon.

Just watching my first egg of Bonny and Rusty hatching......been waiting days and am soooooo excited!
