Can multiple drakes live together?

Ya, ducks are such natually amorous creatures that it's hard to imagine it could get any more exciting. But some things seem to set them off into an even more intense frenzy. Like when I added two new hens to my flock I had to take out the more aggressive drake because they were both going after the same hen at the same time. I have heard of hens drowning and having their necks broken. Also prolapses.

I think there is a difference between egg laying season and breeding season, at least with domestic ducks. Egg laying has more to do with the hens hormones, and breeding season might have to do more with the drakes, (probably in combination with the hens). Although ducks are always in the mood for love there could be a time when nature stimulates them to get real serious about creating offspring.

She flirts with him outrageously....heck all the girls do. I thought it was supposed to be the other way around

Just the hormones running a muck, drakes will try to breed with anything walking around even chickens which doesn't end well for them[chickens] Hopefully someone who has an all drake flock will help you through this, other than separating or rehoming there isn't much you can do about it.

my drake grow up with one of my hens for two years they were never seen apart...... he began on the 2.5 year mark, to try to mate her.... she wound up internally wounded and slightly bald as he ripped her feathers out... she died. hope that answers your question. he killed the hen he grew up with since 2 days old.

also know that.... behaving sexually in the animal kingdom isnt necessarily "Gay", it is often asserting dominance. you will often see this in dogs.

Thank you for sharing, we try very hard to get this point across but to have some one share the experience is much better, very sorry for your loss.

He was 2.5yo before he tried to mate her? that's impressive mine start around here by 4-5mths don't matter who is related and/or how they were raised.

Sorry for you loss however, that would have been quite upsetting.
