Haven't I heard about there being cheap little game cameras you can buy? (Well, I use 'cheap' loosely, but still...) It would be interesting to see what is exactly going on.
For daytime pictures most cameras are good but not all are equal for nighttime pictures.

At this point I'm almost positive the nest is being shared. Just was outside, and thought I'd look into the nest, and I found yet another egg. It was a normal egg, too. There really is nothing for her to hide eggs in...a few leaves rimming the nest, but otherwise no deep leaves or hay.
Well...Mystery solved. I woke up a little earlier than normal today, and when I went to collect the eggs, I got a start because one of my hens was currently sitting on it!
I suppose my young girls (at least one if not more) started to lay earlier than expected
