Can my kids get lice from the chickens???

My son got head lice from school, it was totally awful!!! He had shoulder length hair at the time and it took us about 2 days to get the creatures out! I have also been told they don't like "hair products or colored hair" I think it goes back to the "love clean hair." Boy if there ever was a reason to not wash your hair constantly!!!! Which of course is also gross (dirty hair)
With 5 in the family, he was nice enough to keep them to himself, though we were all scratching just at the thought of them!

NO that lice is different.
Sure they will get on you when you are working with birds BUT they will not stay or multiply.

My Kids had lice many years ago I was horrified, We did the lice shampoo thing. I washed every artical of thier clothing, I washed all the bedding/curtains I bought new pillows, I sprayed the house/car I washed all the stuffed toys. We did a major cleaning and threw away a lot of toys and out grown cloths. What I am trying to get across is that we went way beyond all the sugestions SURE that I had beat the buggers only to have to redo everything 2 weeks later even though I had followded all the directions. Then a couple weeks later I was at it again. I could not believe I was putting so much poisin on my kids and in my house. I called the school one more of many times to say enough was enough only to hear that for the privacy of the kids with the problem they could not tell us where it was coming from. SO I said could you at least send a paper home to every parent in the classes with the issues and tell them that not only should they treat thier kids but to insist that all coat/hats/mitten/scarfs be washed befor returning to class on monday. THEY RELIUCTENTLY AGREED. And I heard the school nurse went to the homes and helped thoses parents
shampoo the childern and give them friendly tips on eleminating the problem.
HERE IS THE KICKER - I went into the school unanounced on Friday after school and sprayed the class rooms my kids attended even the coat closet. THEN Sunday night I went in with a bucket of water and sponges and washed down the whole room. Right or wrong did it help or not I do not know but we got rid of the lice and never got it back again.
Oh ya I bug bomed the house and sent the kids to grammas for the weekend and I cleaned and shampooed carpets. Even the dog got sick of baths.

GOOD LUCK!

Okay, being new to the chicken world... what do these lice look like? My silkie rooster when babyin him in the house had what look like transparent crawly things on the towel. Are these lice? And if so, what can I do about them?

These are the common feather lice:

If I ever have an outbreak. I dust all the birds once a week for a month with a poultry dust.
