Can one duckling hatching cause the other to early hatch?

Hello! My first duckling hatched a few days ago (friday night!) and today, my second egg externally pipped! I find this odd because we started incubating that egg a week later than the first! (They're both rescues, which is why I got my hands on them at such different times,)

has anybody else had this happen? were your ducklings alright after hatching early like this?

Maybe the second egg had already started developing when you found it and put it in the incubator?
It's possible, but the second egg was pretty clearly abandoned on the concrete, we waited for about an hour for any mama duck to stop by. Since that area has a lot of off leash dogs.

(edit! we also candled them right after picking them up, sorry I forgot to mention)

No, one duckling hatching won't cause another to hatch a week early.

If you're in the US and that's a native species, they probably aren't legal to possess, just so you know.

I'm aware that natives aren't legal to keep, the eggs are from a feral domestic duck colony that lives at the nearby lake.
