Can one help a duck decide to go broody?

Last year one of my ducks went broody. I collected eggs, (no drake) and broke it after a week or so. This year we have fertile eggs and I have been allowing them to collect in the nest in hopes of a broody girl. At what point do I give up and just collect the eggs? There are 8 eggs in the nest right now. Is there anything else that can be done to help one of the girls decide to go broody?

Basically you are doing what may help. Sounds as if they are early in the laying cycle. Very likely the hen that went broody last year will do so again. Good luck.

Some will lay over 15 eggs before they go broody, and some will never go broody. Be patient and I bet one will go broody soon.

I had mine go broody with 24. I left her with 10 because she could not even cover all of them.
