hi everyone I was was thinking of purchasing a mandarin duck pair. The thing is I have 3 female kahki Campbell ducklings. So I was thinking to settle the mandarins and once the Campbell's reach maturity I would acclimate and put them in the same coop as the other ducks. This is my first time keeping ortamental duck breeds so I don't know what else can be kept with them; and my coop has plenty of room for all of them. Thanks for reading!

I have heard with chickens that normal chickens will often pick on ornamental ones, such as polish because of the poof on their head, so just make sure they don't pick on the ornamental ducks.

Yeah I know that's what I'm worried about I'm just going to have to see when the time comes. Thanks for the advice!

Ducks are Ducks and do not care about breed...They generally get along...The only concern will be if you end up with a standard Drake?...You would want to separate them...Breeding season can be horrid with Drakes, hormones run high....Fights happen....

Thankfully I don't have any drake khaki Campbell's. But there is a male mandarin duck so there would be a ratio of 1 drake and 4 females which should be fine....I think?

Yes, that will be perfect.....He will love all the ladies....

I'm interested in hearing from others about this topic. I currently have only "standard" size ducks but I want to get call ducks at some point too, especially Mini Golden Cascades and maybe Australian Spotteds. I assume that I'll have to have two separate coops and pens etc because if a standard size drake decided to get frisky with a female call, he would probably drown her.

Well, regular chickens picking on ornamental ones is what I heard and I am not too keen on ducks yet, don't ducks not have a pecking order or typically pick on one another?
