I was just given 2- 6 month old pea cocks (one male one female) for Christmas. (Yeah!!) We have an addition attached to the outside of our basement that we enclosed with wood and plastic to keep them in for this winter. (All the props- food, water, perches, covered windows etc) Now the problem is that we have 4 ducklings (almost 2 months old) that are in a large cage in my basement. Can the peafowl and ducks co-exist for this winter until the ducklings are old enough to join my adult ducks?

Please let me know. Thank you

I have most of my adult peafowl in the duck aviary, which is 40'x40', and they coexist wonderfully, except for one peahen which hates hates, and refuses to let them eat if she is eating. Can you please provide some dimensions of these cages? You would not want it really small, since ducklings make a mess which the peafowl will not like. Congrats on your new peafowl and

The space is 12' x 12' room height to keep 2 peacocks and 3 ducklings in- just until winter is over and/or the ducks are old/big enough to join our adult ducks. We'll be building something specific for the peacocks next spring.

I would keep them apart if it was me. Truth is, you just wont know till they are together. If you do put them together I would definitely set back and watch them for quite a couple hours as I do anyway when I put new birds together in any size pen. I do know its not wise to have any little baby ducks littler than two months around adult pheasants and peafowl. Even in a big pen. I can relate to your pea hen Blue! One of mines (Goldilcks) a wanker towards anyone when she eats, Even when I spread the food all over creation.
