Can Pekins get depressed?

Hi all. One of my female pekins is currently sitting on her eggs. She just started yesterday, but we really can't have more ducklings right now as its getting cold. She hisses at me anytime i step near the pen, even if I'm nowhere near her house!!! I've hers Pekins aren't usually broody, so she must really want babies. So the question is: will she get depressed or sick if i take her eggs?

She may get pretty irked with you taking the eggs, but better that than unwanted ducklings.

Can you give her some dud eggs to sit on? I have some ceramic ones. And I just make sure the sitter gets enough to eat.

She will get over it. Some Pekins have gone broody and successfully hatched eggs. Mine gave up in the middle of brooding. I think taking the eggs is actually harder on me than it is on them, lol. Just keep doing what you're doing and she will give up eventually. Good luck.
