Well, I don't know about all the other things you've asked about, but I do know that I grew up in Eastern South Dakota and I can tell you first hand that pheasants can live in 40 below weather!

Yes,but it's best to keep the drafts off from them.I poly the top 3' of my pen and leave the bottom 3' open.Their perch is in the peak so no drafts blow directly on them.
