I have a mixed flock, 3 roos, and 13 pullets, who are getting ready to switch to layer feed (they are 15 weeks now) my question is can the roos eat the Layer feed and be healthy, or is there another type of feed to give to everyone that will suffice the needs of all of them?

That's what I've been feeding mine for years with no problems.

Roo's do best if on a Flock Raiser feed. It is basically the same as layer feed, a tad bit lower in protein than layer feed, and it does not have calcium in it. So you can feed it to the entire flock and provide oyster shell on the side for the girls. This is a pretty common practice among big mixes of chickens of all ages and sexes. [IMG]
