I don't have any chickens myself, however a year ago my dad got a bunch as baby chicks and there were 20 hens and 5 Roosters. One of the Roosters was exceptionally big and was given the name "Bigfoot". I haven't spent much time with the chickens but since then 3 of the Roosters have been killed by Raccoons and he gave one away to someone who needed a Rooster leaving the aforementioned Bigfoot as the only Rooster left.
My dad told me at first he used to be pretty nice and would even let him pet him but after the other Roosters were killed/given away he has become real mean, as in attacking him whenever he goes in to give him food/water and even tries to attack through the fence. He is a Rhode Island Red Rooster.
Just wondering if you think it's possible that he decided to get all mean due to some Rooster PTSD seeing his Rooster friends get killed and due to now being the only Rooster left or more likely due to just getting older. I will note that the Roosters and Hens have always been separated.
