Can Self Blue breed with Bantams?

You will likely get mostly black chicks. Post photos when they hatch!
I have my second generation as well. These are some of my silkie crosses with Hedwig, my splash Ameraucana. Still do not have any self blues!
They all hatched out blue. They have the ameraucana cheeks from their mother and lightly feathered legs from their silkie father.
Your chicks will likely look similar, those cheeks appear to be a dominant trait.

They are beautiful!! I am so excited now! I was only planning on having a self blue flock but, a nice lady in Texas sent my son home with this crazy mix of 18 duck and bantamish eggs. So I just went for it! And I only was able to hatch the two blue roos out of like 100 eggs I tried for months but, the post office kept destroying my embryos. I will post pics when they hatch! Hatch day is the 22nd

Both your self blues ended up being boys? I thought you only had one. Eloise and Charlotte, right? I have given up getting the self blues here to Hawaii! I did have a line on somebody in Washington state who was going to try to send chicks but I haven’t heard more from her. The pandemic has also made it difficult to send live chicks such a distance through the mail.
oh well, I’m quite pleased with my mixed flock.

Yes Jane is my only boy, a white Silkie. He is the father of all the chicks. Have some pure bred silkies in the works now as well one of my young silkie pullets decided to go broody already!
For olive eggers, you would need to get some dark brown egg laying pullets. Most people use the Marans, black copper Marans is most often used, but Welsummers work as well.
My olive Egger is half black copper Marans and half ameraucana. This is her egg color!

My new baby loves hatched yesterday and today! I can definatetly see self blue in a couple that ended up grey! I will post better pics soon! The grey ones don’t have feathered feet and legs like all of my bantams...so weird. I love them
