I got 8 chicks out of the bantam box at tsc they all look exactly the same white, silky feathering, blackish blue skin. but half of them have the walnut comb and the other have single combs. the chicks are two weeks old plus, so I can see there combs very well. if a single comb is not silky then what breed could these single combed ones be? and how do you tell the sex of silky's at 2 weeks of age.

APA quality Silkies always have walnut combs, but sometimes single combs will pop up on hatchery quality Silkies. They are still Silkies, just not up to APA standards. Silkies are essentially impossible to sex at 2 weeks and often fool even experienced owners at 2 months. Some of the members who frequent our What Breed or Gender is This? section have been fooled by Silkies even up to the point where they either crowed or laid an egg.
