Can someone explain…

There is cuckoo/barred polish. I say I had a double barred boy and laced female. That’s what I was curious if they’d be able to be sexed young or autosexed. I was wondering if the offspring would come out lighter-if make and darker-with females. Even waiting until they got their “teenage” feathers
Laced is a bit harder for me. The male's tend to not have laced (or very poorly laced) chests in my experience. Males are the only sex that can be double barred. When I crossed a barred cochin to a pheonix, the male was noticeably lighter even though the pair both only had 1 barring gene.

Let me know if that makes sense. I'll try to explain better if it doesn't

If your male is B/B, DF(double factor), true barring. Because it’s sex-linked, the barring is carried on the z chromosome(s), and not carried on the w. ZZ being male and ZW being female. Than you could be able to tell the male and female apart at hatch. Males would be lighter as described previously in great detail.

Technically a sexlink is made by crossing a b+/b+ non-barred rooster to a B/- barred hen. Resulting in barred males and unbarred females.

That said if he is the B/B barred type then all of his offspring will inherit the barring gene from him. If he is B/b+ than half of his offspring will be barred, and if he is a barring look-alike, than depending on what alleles the female he mates with possesses than he could produce various pattern types.
There are other types of barring, some allele combinations look like true barring but they aren’t sex-linked like true barring.
To test for true barring just breed him with a non barred hen. The specific color of the hen isn’t that important, but don’t use I/I (dominant white). Because all the chicks will be white. A few other colors are not ideal and a few a optimal.
If you are interested in breeding a auto sexing polish let me know and I’ll give you some info on it.
